Cornmeal Crusted Fried Green Tomato Fries

- 1 green tomato
- ½ cup fine cornmeal
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (use rice flour to make gluten-free)
- 1 egg
- 1 T. milk
- 2 tsp. hot sauce
- ½ tsp. ground black pepper
- ½ tsp. garlic salt
- oil for frying
- Heat ¼" of oil in a large saucepan.
- Place rice flour, pepper, and garlic salt in one shallow container until combined.
- In a second container whisk together egg, milk, and hot sauce.

- Slice green tomatoes roughly ½" thick, then cut into strips.

- Drain on a paper towel lined plate.
