Apple Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package (10 oz., about 40) large marshmallows
  • 12 Tootsie Roll Midgies
  • 12 ounce Wilton red candy melts
  • green M&M's - I separated the green ones out from a regular bag
  • 1½" round cookie cutter
Directions
  1. Grease a 13 x 9 pan.
  2. In a large pot melt butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
  4. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 pan.
  5. All the Rice Krispie treats to cool.
  6. Use the 1½" round cookie cutter to cut each Rice Krispie Treat into (2) round circles (see photo) and set aside.
  7. Cut 6 Midgie Tootsie Rolls in half and then cut in half again long ways and set aside.
  8. Pour the red candy melts into a microwavable safe dish. Heat for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until melted.
  9. Dip the round Rice Krispie Treats in the red melted chocolate. Lift up with a fork and allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
  10. Gently place the dipped Rice Krispie Treat in a standing position on the wax paper lined baking sheet.
  11. Gently press Tootsie Roll Midgie 'stem' on top and then place a green M&M beside the stem to create a 'leaf'.
  12. Repeat with all the Rice Krispie Treats.
