Apple Rice Krispie Treats

- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) large marshmallows
- 12 Tootsie Roll Midgies
- 12 ounce Wilton red candy melts
- green M&M's - I separated the green ones out from a regular bag
- 1½" round cookie cutter
- Grease a 13 x 9 pan.
- In a large pot melt butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted.
- Remove from heat. Add Rice Krispies cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 pan.
- All the Rice Krispie treats to cool.
- Use the 1½" round cookie cutter to cut each Rice Krispie Treat into (2) round circles (see photo) and set aside.
- Cut 6 Midgie Tootsie Rolls in half and then cut in half again long ways and set aside.
- Pour the red candy melts into a microwavable safe dish. Heat for 30 seconds, stir and repeat until melted.
- Dip the round Rice Krispie Treats in the red melted chocolate. Lift up with a fork and allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.
- Gently place the dipped Rice Krispie Treat in a standing position on the wax paper lined baking sheet.
- Gently press Tootsie Roll Midgie 'stem' on top and then place a green M&M beside the stem to create a 'leaf'.
- Repeat with all the Rice Krispie Treats.
