Add milk to a medium saucepan. Warm the milk over a medium heat. Do not let the milk come to a boil.
Whisk the pumpkin puree, cocoa powder, sugar, pumpkin pie spice into the milk. Whisk until smooth. Continue cooking for 2 minutes while not letting the hot chocolate come to a boil.
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs. Top with whipped cream. Then sprinkle a little pumpkin pie spice over the whipped cream.
