Have you read Lois Ehlert’s book, Leaf Man ? It is filled with pictures created with leaves and served as the inspiration for Andrew’s masterpiece: The Turtle.
We went on a walk around the property and collected leaves, twigs, and dried flowers. When we came inside, Rew used a glue stick to create a picture with the leaves. The leaves will eventually dry out, so I made a photo copy of his first leaf picture to save for the presidential library.
Big boys can create artwork from nature too! My oldest son, went on a nature walk and collected a variety of flowers, leaves, twigs, and even a feather. He glued them to a piece of paper and photocopied it. Then he took colored pencils and “colored” his nature picture. He used touches of marker and even stamped a couple of images on top of the colored pencil. I already have lots of art work to donate to Tigger’s presidential museum, but I still have plans for this picture. I am going to scan it and use the scanned image, as well as images of his other pieces, to create a set of note cards which Tigger can give to his grandmother.
Frugal Gift Idea: Use your art work, your kid’s art work, or photographs to create a set of note cards. My dad made me a set of note cards using pictures from our vacation together. On the back of the note cards (where the trade mark would usually go) he put quotes and Bible verses that matched the images on the cards.

Those are some very pretty pictures! Makes me definetly want to go out an get any flowers that might be left and make something as nice as this. I like the idea of using them for note cards too.

You certainly have some talented children! That was such a good idea about the note cards. Wish I could get out and gather some leaves, but it has rained almost everyday here since forever. We're going to need an ark soon!

Those are neat. My kids made leaf men last year in Sunday School class with pressed leaves and they have held up well.

Neat idea. We went on a nature walk a few weeks back and I still have all the goodies in a ziploc bag. Now, I have a fun and creative way to display them.
My 4yo is currently fascinated with the changing leaves. He'd love that project!

What a great project, and what a wonderful idea to make notecards too. That is a gorgeous picture your older son made – it’s so nice this is the kind of thing that kids of all ages can do at their own level!
