How to Use Pinterest to Grow Your Blog

Last week I wrote an Intro to Pinterest explaining how to use it and some of its benefits. I also wanted to address some specific ways that bloggers can use Pinterest.

Pinterest is my number 3 source of traffic! I find that a lot of people are surprised that Pinterest has the ability to generate so much traffic. I have updated and shared my tips for How to Increasing Blog Traffic with Pinterest at Blogging for Foodies.

  1. This is all such wonderfully practical advice. I am going to rearrange my Pinterest boards this afternoon. And send my husband a love note through Linked In :)

  2. Great post, Alea! I don’t think I get much traffic on my blog from Pinterest. I’m going to take a look at my boards and stats this afternoon. Thank you for sharing your tips!

    • Pinterest sends ~750 people each month to the Reusing Kleenex Box post that I referenced above. It stuck out because it was an old post and not a very good post. I didn’t take the time to figure out how much traffic they send for other posts, but it is noticable and continues to grow. Plus Pinterest is fun.

You have a great eye for pin-worthy posts. I always enjoy your pins when they cross my path.

  3. I left a message on your post about using pinterest, but since this is your current post, I thought you may see more easily.

Could you please send me an invite? I would like to try out pinterest. Thank you!

  4. I really needed this post- honestly I needed it because I have yet to be apart of pinterest but need to but have no idea where to start! Thanks girl!

  5. Excellent, Alea! Great info and encouragement :)

  6. I totally agree! Pinterest is in my top 10 referrals now–and I don’t have recipe photos like you do! But the pro bloggers keep talking about Stumbleupon, and I used to try to stumble, but that traffic was lousy. They stayed for a few seconds. My average time for Pinterest users is almost three minutes. So it’s so much more useful! And I think it’s mostly us moms who are using it now, so we have the market cornered! :)

  7. I planned to start a weekly “pinterest” post on my blog. I googled my post name to see if it would be an issue, Caught my “Pinterest” seems to be ok. I came across this post while I was planning and it was very helpful! Thank you!

  8. This is good info. I have been thinking for a while now that I have to organize my recipes better. It probably would be wise to break it down into better categories. Thanks for the tips Alea. Pinterest always ranks high for us now too. I have no idea where all those people came from! :)
