Frozen Dessert Round Up

My husband received an ice-cream maker for Father’s Day in 2000. Why? Because the kids were sure that my husband wanted an ice-cream maker. A red one. And it turned out that they were right; my husband loves making ice-cream. He often insists on bringing it to our friends parties so everyone can eat real ice-cream. He has even brought it on vacation. Seriously. When I say he is our official ice-cream maker, I really mean he is the self-appointed official ice-cream maker.

Have you made your own ice-cream, frozen yogurt or sorbet before? It really isn’t that difficult and the difference in flavor will amaze you! Here are a few recipes that I’ve found to get you started:

  1. It sounds like wonderful combinations, but I really don’t like ice cream. I know, I know-I love milk, butter, cheese-but not ice cream nor yogurt.

  2. What a lovely round up! I shall spend a quite bit of time looking at them all! BTW The Toffee Ice Cream is actually Frozen Yogurt Cream but it tastes the same anyway or just about. Thank you for including my desserts and thank you for making it easy to view everyone else’s!

    • I moved it to the frozen yogurt section. I find frozen yogurts so delicious that I can rarely distinguish them from ice-creams when tasting the end product.

      • I can’t either but sometimes the honey taste can come through if you don’t use a mild one. All the frozen yogurt recipes I post can be made with yogurt made from half Double Cream and half Whole Milk for a richer flavour. I’m thinking of making the raspberry ripple frozen yogurt with half and half for our family birthday weekend (most of us have birthdays in July and early August!).

  3. Great round up, thanks so much! I appreciate the dairy free, dairy and I have parted ways here lately.

  4. I think I’ll just sit here a spell and cool off looking at the titles of all these treats!

  5. Thanks, Alea, for linking to my favorites…I linked back to you, but since my traffic is “small town” compared to your “big-city interstate,” you may not see a lot coming from my neighborhood! ;)

We made homemade ice cream two weeks in a row, so I think this week I need to take a break…kind of counter productive to all the work I’m doing with no bread or coffee with creamer! I will be checking back someday, though, and trying some of your recipes…caramel sauce #1, I think!

  6. Thanks for the friend request on FoodBuzz… I love finding new friends and their blogs. Yours has so much useful info! I’m looking forward to being a frequent visitor.

  7. Girl, what are you trying to do to me. Do you realize ice cream is my weakness. These all look amazing! So glad you rounded them up for me, I mean us! LOL!

  8. What a fantastic resource! Thank you for all these lovely cool dessert links! Now if only our weather would get more summer like – instead of 50 degrees, grey and rainy…. :)

  9. Oh I was so sad because we don’t have a ice cream maker and then I saw the link to make it without the machine. Making ice cream tonight! Thanks

  10. This frozen dessert round up is very tasty and awesome. I don’t have any ice cream maker, looks like it is the time to get one.

  11. What a great post, everything is so delicious! New follower! xoxo

  12. I do think we’re going to have to get ourselves an ice cream maker… Thanks for sharing so many recipes! I’m off to check out the hot fudge & caramel sauces you linked to. NUM!

  13. What a great resource, Alea! Your timing is perfect too, as I’m about to dust off my ice cream maker for the summer :-)

  14. Nice collection of recipes Alea! I’ve pinned it. I’m sure I’ll be referring to it throughout the summer months.

  15. Thanks for including my fried ice cream in your round up!

  16. Hi Alea!

I popped over to see the desserts, thank you once more for the mentions! Hope all is good with you, sorry I’ve been a bit of a stranger recently but I do pop over now and again!

Hope you have a lovely week!
