Savory Apple Pizza

This sweet and salty combination makes a great appetizer or meal. Caramelized onions and apples pair perfectly with black forest ham for a savory combination.
Ingredients
  • 2 medium apples (I like Gala)
  • 1 medium sweet onion
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 5 or 6 thin slices black forest ham
  • Havarti cheese
  • ½ cup applesauce
  • 1 tbsp garlic infused vinegar
  • salt, pepper, and garlic salt to taste
  • 1 premade pizza crust (I used a gluten free version)
  • 1 tsp olive oil
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Slice apples into ¼" thick wedges.
  3. Slice onion into very thin slices.
  4. In a small skillet, heat butter until melted. Saute the apples and onions in the butter until they begin to caramelize.
  5. Lightly coat the pizza crust with olive oil on both sides and place on a nonstick baking sheet.
  6. Mix the applesauce, vinegar, salt, pepper, and garlic salt together and pour over the pizza crust.
  7. Cut the ham into small strips and place on pizza.
  8. Add the caramelized apples and onions to the pizza and top with several thin slices of Havarti cheese.
  9. Bake the pizza in your preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
  10. Remove pizza from oven and allow to cool for several minutes before serving.
