Cornmeal Crusted Fried Green Tomato Fries

  • 1 green tomato
  • ½ cup fine cornmeal
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (use rice flour to make gluten-free)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 T. milk
  • 2 tsp. hot sauce
  • ½ tsp. ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp. garlic salt
  • oil for frying
  1. Heat ¼" of oil in a large saucepan.
  2. Place rice flour, pepper, and garlic salt in one shallow container until combined.
  3. In a second container whisk together egg, milk, and hot sauce.

  5. Slice green tomatoes roughly ½" thick, then cut into strips.
