Author: Alea
Recipe type: Dessert
- ¾ cup softened salted butter
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 1½ teaspoons mint extract
- 1 egg
- 2¼ cup all purpose flour
- green gel food coloring
- black gel icing
- chocolate chips
- circle cookie cutter
- parchment paper
- Preheat your oven to 325° and line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper.
- Using a hand mixer, beat your softened butter and sugar together for about three minutes.
- Quickly mix in your mint extract and egg.
- Now, mix in your flour. It will start to thicken and then look a little crumbly.
- Finish kneading the dough in your hands until it starts to stick together.
- Roll your dough out onto a floured piece of parchment paper.
- Press your circle cookie cutter onto your dough and place the circles onto your baking pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes, they will look light in color. You don't want them to get too hard or it will make them difficult to decorate.
- Let your cookies cool.
- Use the black gel icing to draw a spider web. Start by making 3 skinny squiggles like the picture below.
- Connect the squiggles as shown to complete the webs.
- Press a chocolate chip upside down onto the opposite side as the web. This is your spider's body.
- Draw legs on your spider and a line to the web to complete each cookie.
