15 President's Day Crafts and Activities for Kids to help you teach your children about President's Day, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln.

I remember doing President’s Day crafts when I was in grade school that consisted of everything from “building” Abe Lincoln’s beard out of painted cotton balls to building “cherry trees” from tissue paper. I always loved these crafts and learning about our founding fathers who helped build this great nation we live in.

When it comes to helping kids understand why we celebrate President’s Day, crafts and stories are often the most fun and effective means of doing so. On top of these crafts, you can tell simple stories about Abe Lincoln and why he was known as one of our nation’s greatest leaders to the story of the Cherry tree.

Kids like to feel like they are included, so maybe simply asking them what they would do if they were president one day would be exciting for them. Consider getting them to write down a list and of all the ways they think a president should change the nation and even the world. If their ideas are something such as “Feed the hungry”, you might take this as an opportunity to introduce them to volunteer work at a food bank. Who knows? You could be raising our nation’s next leader! In the meantime, here are some crafts and activities to get you started.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
