These patriotic dessert and snack recipes would make perfect festive treats for your Memorial Day and 4th of July gatherings.

Patriotic dessert and snack recipes

When you are a military family, you really don’t need much of an excuse to break out the red, white, and blue decorations, and patriotic desserts and snacks. Hail and Farewell parties, Change of Commands, Homecomings, and Retirement Ceremonies.   We really do red, white, and blue all year round long! So it is nice when the rest of the country decides to join us in our patriotic celebrations on President’s Day, 4th of July, Flag Day, Memorial Day, and Veteran’s Day.

No matter why you need a red, white, and blue treat – a President’s Day class party at your child’s school, a Captain America birthday party for your son, or a 4th of July block party with your neighbors, you will find inspiration from the list of patriotic desserts and snacks below.

The patriotic dessert and snack recipes below are all easy to make and most come together in a short amount of time with minimal preparations required.

You can also take a star-shaped cookie cutter to your favorite cookie, brownie, or cake and quickly turn an ordinary dessert recipe into a patriotic treat. And don’t forget that in a pinch, you can simply add strawberries and blueberries to just about any treat and you instantly have a patriotic dessert.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
