How to Cloth Diaper Without Breaking the Bank- There are many ways to save money while building your cloth diaper stash. Learn how with these frugal tips.

So you’ve decided to go a little greener and try cloth diapers for your baby. That’s fantastic! Cloth diapers nowadays are much easier to use than the ones our grandmothers were accustomed to, even if they share the same benefits. Cloth diapers are better for the environment by reducing the amount of waste in landfills, less chemicals touching your baby’s skin, and they are more cost effective in the long run. Although the investment can seem rather costly in the beginning, there are many ways to save your pennies and still build a good quality cloth diaper stash. Let me give you some ideas on How to Cloth Diaper Without Breaking the Bank.

How to Cloth Diaper Without Breaking the Bank

Consider cloth diaper rental when starting on your cloth diaper journey. Cloth diaper rental is a service provided by a retailer where you pick the brand of diapers you would like to try and the quantity you selected will be delivered to your doorstep (even before your baby is born in the case of a newborn rental) at a low cost (from $125 to $200, approximately). This service will give you an excellent idea of what cloth diapering is like without the commitment of buying a huge stash right away. Even better, some retailers will give you a store credit when you return the rental. You can then use it to buy your favorite brand of cloth diapers!

Buying excellent used condition diapers is also a brilliant way of getting started. This will also save you from going broke. There are many B/S/T groups on Facebook (Buy/Sell/Trade) to choose from. Some are more general with different cloth diaper brands, while others showcase mainly one brand. After doing your research on brand website you can narrow it down to specific ones you would like to try and search for them on B/S/T groups at a much lower price than buying brand new.

Don’t forget to scope the clearance section of cloth diaper online retailers. You can find previous versions of high quality brand diapers at a fraction of the original cost (sometimes even half price!). Try looking on eBay as well, you could get lucky and snag a diaper for only a few bucks!

Cloth diapering can seem very expensive when looking at the initial cost of buying all brand new diapers. With these few tips, you definitely won’t break the bank and your baby will look oh so adorable! Win-win for everyone!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
