I’ve collected a list with the help of friends and family of the best Christmas books for kids.

We've made a list of the Best Christmas Books for Kids to enjoy during advent. Read these Christmas books with your child as you look forward to Christmas!

Reading Christmas books during advent is one of our family’s favorite traditions. After the Epiphany on January 6th, I pack up the Christmas books and put them away until the day after Thanksgiving. The kids are doubly excited to see read the books since they haven’t seen them for almost 11 months. Each year I add a few more titles to our collection. Since my oldest child is now 28, I have collected quite a few Christmas books over the years and since my youngest is only 11, the collection continues to grow…

Some of the books on the list are Christian books and centered around the nativity, some are secular and focus on holiday traditions, and some are just plain silly. They are a wide range of reading levels, but most of them are picture books and meant to be enjoyed as a read-aloud. Most importantly most of the books focus, in some way, on having a giving heart and thinking of others during the Christmas season.

You can use this list below to create a Book Advent Calendar for your kids or some fun book-themed Elf on the Shelf ideas. You can also use it to find a special book to add to a or create a family tradition, for example, our family reads about St. Nicholas as part of our Saint Nicholas Day celebration with Christmas stockings on December 6th.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
