15 Delicious Pecan Recipes

We had several nut trees on our property when I was growing up. I remember coming home in the fall, laying a tarp under the trees, and then climbing the tree and shaking the branches to make the nuts fall off. Then we would set the nuts out to dry for a couple of weeks. Once they were dry we would bag them and freeze them where they would last for up to a year until the next harvest.

I grew up eating nuts all the time. I enjoyed them as a snack and in many different dishes. So it was a complete shock to discover my husband didn’t like most nuts. I kept trying different nuts in recipes until I finally found one that he liked: pecans! So now when I think a recipes needs nuts, I usually add pecans. Unless I am mad at my husband or don’t want to share, then I add almonds. Just kidding.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
