Thanksgiving Leftover Recipe Contest - Enter by sharing your Thanksgiving Leftovers Recipe for a chance to win one of two $ 500 VISA gift cards

Tetra Pak® has come up with a fun way to help fight food waste: A Thanksgiving Leftover Recipe Contest.

Enter by sharing  your Thanksgiving Leftovers Recipe for a chance to win one of two $ 500 VISA gift cards.

The Grand Prize Winner will be chosen by Tetra Pak’s jury (Disclosure: I am on the jury). The Public Choice Winner will be the one with the highest number of votes on the submitted recipe. After you enter your recipe, be sure to share a link to it with your friends and invite them to vote for your entry.

The average American tosses about 25% of food and beverages they purchase into the trash. Those numbers go even higher during the holidays, escalating to approximately 50% of Thanksgiving food being wasted. I hope that the entries to the  Thanksgiving Leftovers Recipe Contest will inspire others to create delicious meals with their Thanksgiving leftovers.

At Tetra Pak®, they  think a lot about innovative ways to create safe, convenient, environmentally friendly packaging. Their cartons are recyclable and light weight which means less waste in landfills and low carbon footprint. Taking small smart steps to reduce the food waste from our own homes can add up to make a big difference.

Submit your Thanksgiving Leftover Recipe here for a chance to win one of two $ 500 VISA gift cards. This contest is open to residents of the United States and closes to submissions on December 7, 2014. You can find all of the terms and conditions here.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
