Awesome Grapefruit Recipes- These delicious recipes are a great way to put grapefruit to use this season. They include appetizers, snacks, and even slushes!

This time of year, citrus fruit start to go on sale because they are season. One of my favorite to enjoy is grapefruit. Grapefruits have been recently found to have a lot of nutritious benefits such as being high in antioxidants. Besides being healthy to eat, they taste great and can be made into all sorts of wonderful things such as bases for salad dressings and are a wonderful way to wake up and start your day. If you love these big citrus fruits, too, here are some ways to enjoy them in Awesome Grapefruit Recipes as well as how to freeze them for up to a month.

How to Freeze Grapefruit

Many people don’t recommend freezing citrus because of the high amount of liquid in them as well as their acidity. However, I find that grapefruit can be frozen up to a month and the frozen grapefruit works well in smoothies, sauces, and other things where you don’t need it to be solid. You can freeze it by peeling the grapefruit and then sectioning it. Take out as much of the pith as possible because you will not want to mess with that when you go to use it. Just plan on using it in about a month or so because it won’t last long in the freezer.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
