Gallery of Favorites
April of The 21st Century Housewife and I would like to welcome you to our weekend blog hop: Gallery of Favorites!

This week we are featuring three posts on herbs: The Joy of Lavender, Herbs Around the House – Lavender, and The Easiest Way to Preserve Herbs.

In The Joys of Lavender, Nancy of On the Home Front, gives tips for extending your lavender harvest and how to enjoy their lovely scent through out the winter.

In Herbs Around the Home – Lavender, Vicky of Gluten Free, SCD, and Veggie shares ideas for how you can use lavender around the home. Her tips include how to make a Lavender cleaning spray, how to use it in laundry, and how to use it as an insect repellant to name a few.

In The Easiest Way to Preserve Herbs, Adrienne of Whole New Mom, shares her method for freezing herbs.  Adrienne says freezing herbs gives you “more of a fresh flavor to your herbs” than other preservation methods.

The Gallery of Favorites is a place for you to feature your favorite posts from your own blog. Although April and I both spend a lot of our time writing about food, we do have many other interests and we know our readers do as well. The Gallery of Favorites is a place for all bloggers – not just food bloggers – to share their ideas, interests and passions.

Thanks for hosting. Nice features this week! There is a lavender farm just down the road from my office. It’s very beautiful and smells heavenly too but I often think people don’t know what to do with it.

I’ve linked my recipe for Salmon Meatballs with Lemon Dill Infused Cream Sauce this week. We love to keep canned salmon in the pantry and this is a particularly nice way to cook with it. Enjoy!

Hi! Thank you for highlighting the herb posts! I’m so interested to see the one on preserving herbs, I went and read the other one last week – some great information.

This week I shared my Lemon and Blueberry Cake.

    Have a lovely weekend!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
