Christine is sharing tips for saving money at Walgreen’s with Balance Rewards. If you already know how Balance Rewards works, you can find a list of Walgreen’s sales with coupon matchups here.

How to save money at Walgreens with Balance Rewards

One of the neatest programs out there is Walgreen’s Balance Rewards Points. Not only can you save money on so many items in store, but you can earn money for future purchases in so many ways.

In this post, I am going to teach you how to use the Walgreen’s Balance Rewards program and some neat ways to really maximize your savings.

What is the Balance Rewards Program at Walgreen’s and How Does it Work?

The Balance Rewards program is a points based rewards program designed to encourage you to save more by making purchases on certain items in store and (oddly enough) live a healthier lifestyle. You can then redeem your points (which add up fast!) for future purchases in $5, $10, $$20, $30, and even $50! I have even redeemed points for just a dollar before.

How do I earn points?

Walgreen’s Balance Rewards program is perfect for you if you lead a healthy lifestyle and like to buy items in larger quantities.  You earn points buy purchasing certain items in store that are available to earn rewards on and it changes weekly. I have also found that the rewards are most often available for purchasing more than one item of the kind. For example, it will say, “Earn 2,000 points for buying 2 Walgreen’s brand items”.  Many times, the items available to earn points on are already on sale as well. If you [air them with a coupon, you get some amazing sales.

Something unique to this rewards program is you can earn points by simply walking or exercising. If you log in to the website and track daily weigh-ins and miles walked, you earn 20 points each mile and weigh-in! On top of earning points, you can earn badges for the website and your online profile as well as engage with other people who lead ive lifestyle to encourage you.

How do I get the most out of the program?

Here are some insider tips to earning the most with the Walgreen’s Balance Rewards Program:

~If you fill prescriptions, (and don’t do it with a government issued insurance) you earn 500 points.

~Pair coupons with Walgreen’s deals and maximize the points and savings you get. Walgreen’s has in store coupons which they allow you to use with manufacturer’s coupons and the points that can be earned. It’s a triple savings!

~Remember to login to the online active community that Walgreen’s Balance Rewards program offers and track your progress. You will quickly see them add up with the potential to earn 40 or more points DAILY just by walking and weighting in.

~Pick up a circular weekly and a coupon book from Walgreen’s. Be on the lookout for ways to save even more with free items with purchase. I often see things such as BOGOs for rewards members and “Buy this, get this for free”. The latest one I just did was getting free dish soap when I bought any Walgreen’s brand sponge. I got dish soap valued at $1.99 and a sponge for $1.99, so for less than $2, I got both. Many times, the BOGO sales will not have a minimum purchase required, which I really love.

~Don’t forget the download the App to your smartphone. You will get the latest deals sent right to you.

~Walgreen’s actually sells fitness devices that automatically track your mileage for the “Steps” program to gain Balance Rewards points. What could be easier?

~You have potential to save some amazing amounts of money with this program by letting your points rack up. Just don’t forget to use them! If you ever forget what you balance is for the points, you will get a points available printout with your receipt as well as be able to see them by logging in. You can also call the number on the back of your card to find out.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
