Shopping for Back-to-School supplies can really add up. That is why I use Ebates to buy school supplies. I can save money while shopping at my favorite stores,  compare prices (like on an expensive but required calculator) at different merchants, and have access to coupons so I can save even more.

How Ebates Works

Visit Ebates. Choose a Gift Card (Currently there are a $10.00 gift cards available from Target, Barnes and Noble, and Home Depot), enter your email and choose a password. You are officially signed up.

Search for whatever it is you need. You can search by store or by item. You will see the percentage cash back you will receive from each of the online store.

You can also use promo codes or coupons for the stores when you check out, which will save you even more. Ebates has a list of some of the promo codes, but you can also use the ones you find online or that a company emails to you.

Ebates mails rebate checks 4 times a year. You will need to give them your address so they can mail you your check.

You can save even more by taking advantage of double cash back. Everyday, Ebates has at least one merchant that is offering double cash back and during special events like Back-to-School they offer double cash back from many merchants. I saved more by buying my kids school books from Half.com and Barnes and Noble on a day when Ebates was offering double cash back on those sites.

It really does work:

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
