Tax Free Shopping Dates by State for 2013

I am not ready to think about school yet! Fortunately my friend Lori of More with Less Today has got us covered! She has created a list of the tax-free shopping dates by state to help us all save money on school supplies and clothes.

Tax Free Shopping Dates for 2013 Back to School Shopping:

Alabama – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing under $100, school supplies under $50, books under $30 and computer equipment under $750.

Arkansas – August 3-4, 2013 , applies to clothing and school supplies under $100.

Connecticut – August 18-24 2013 – applies to clothing and shoes under $300.

Florida – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing under $75, computers under $750 and back to school supplies under $15.

Georgia – August 9-10, 2013 – applies to school supplies under $20, clothing under $100, and computers under $1,000.

Iowa – August 2-3, 2013 – applies to clothing under $100.

Louisiana– August 2-3, 2013 – purchases under $2,500 excludes taxable services, automobiles and meals.

Maryland- August 11- 17, 2013 – applies to clothing and shoes under $100.

Mississippi – July 26-27, 2013 – applies to clothing and shoes under $100.

Missouri – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing under $100, school supplies under $50, and  computer equipment under $3,500.

New Mexico – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to all clothing under $100, school supplies under $30, computers under $1,000, and computer equipment under $500.

North Carolina – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing, and school supplies under $100,instructional material under $300, sports and recreation equipment under $50, and computers under $3,500.

Oklahoma- August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing under $100.

South Carolina – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing, accessories, shoes, school supplies, computers, and computer equipment no dollar amount listed. For more info go to http:www.sctax.org.

Tennessee – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing and school supplies under $100 and computers under $1,500.

Texas – August 9-11, 2013 – applies to clothing, backpacks and school supplies under $100.

Virginia – August 2-4, 2013 – applies to clothing under $100, and school supplies under $20.

Amazon.com has  School Supplies by Grade. This can be a great resource to compare prices as well as save time, gas and running around with the kids in tow. If your child is going to need an expensive item like a calculator or software, you can use TrackIF to help you find the best deal.

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
