10 Common Cleaning Mistakes Made in the Home- It's easy to make mistakes while cleaning our homes. Check out these common ones and avoid them in the future.

Raise your hand if you love cleaning! Well, even the most perfect cleaners make mistakes from time to time. If you have a goal of having a very clean home, check out these 10 Common Cleaning Mistakes Made in the Home.

10 Common Cleaning Mistakes Made in the Home

1. No Cleaning Schedule

One big mistake made in the home is that people don’t make a schedule for their cleaning. They try and do everything at once, get overwhelmed, and then give up.

2. Bleach in the Laundry

Do you know how many articles of clothing have been ruined by bleach? Only use bleach on those whites and keep it out of sight for the other clothes.

3. Using the Wrong Cleaner

They sell different cleaners for a reason. Don’t go around using Windex to clean everything, you’ll mess up some surfaces.

4. Not Using the Right Tools

When it comes down to cleaning, you need to make sure you’re using the right tools. Using a scrub brush on a wooden table isn’t the best idea.

5. Using Too Much Cleaner

A little goes a long way when it comes to cleaning products. Make sure you’re not using too much cleaner. The chemicals in the cleaner can ruin furniture and countertops, so be wise about how much you use.

6. Letting Laundry Sit

Laundry should be folded as soon as it’s taken out of the dryer. You don’t want to leave warm laundry sitting in a laundry basket because it will wrinkle. If you don’t have time to fold the laundry at least try to lay it out to avoid those laundry wrinkles.

7. Don’t Multitask

Although people say that multitasking works, it doesn’t. When you are cleaning stay focused! Do one thing at a time to avoid making bigger messes or mistakes than necessary.

8. Slow Down

Is there a race to clean fast? A common cleaning mistake that is made in the home is cleaning too fast. If you’re in a hurry that’s one thing, but slow down and clean things right the first time. You’ll have way better results this way.

9. Mixing Cleaning Products

Unless you’re a chemist, you will probably want to stay away from mixing any sort of cleaning products. Mixing chemicals can actually be deadly, so avoid mixing cleaning products for your own safety.

10. Avoiding the Inside of Items

Another common cleaning mistake that is made often is that people avoid cleaning the inside of things. If it has an inside (oven, fridge, and cabinets) you can’t avoid cleaning it forever.

What is one of the top cleaning mistakes you make most often in your home?

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
