There are lots of fun ways to introduce the letter d to your child. Included in this list is recipes, printables, crafts, books and more!

If you are homeschooling an early learner, introducing the letters is essential. In order to help you do that, think of this as a “best of” series on introducing each letter and this week, we are focusing on D. Here is a fun list of activities from worksheets to crafts and even books and recipes to help you introduce the letter D into your child’s reading vocabulary. Let’s get started!

Crafts:

This very cute D is for Ducks handprint project from Crafty Morning will surely delight your little ones!

No Time For Flashcards has a really neat D is for Dandelion activity with just some glue, q-tips and pipe-cleaners!

Printables:

This Letter D draw a line worksheet from Kidzone helps your child learn how to listen for the letter D at the end of words.

Why not make a simple Letter D Mini-Book that your kids can color? This one is from DLTK.

Indoor/Outdoor Fun:

D is for Density! This fun density activity from Steve Spangler Science is a letter D exercise and science experiment in one! This is great for older and younger kids together.

Dinosaur Egg Hunting is another fun activity to do with your children. Just hide leftover Easter eggs around outside or in the house if the weather is cold and go hunting for dinosaur eggs.

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
