5 Activities for Kids to Do on a Rainy Day including ways to get out of the house when it is raining and how to keep kids busy indoors on rainy days.

When you find yourself at home with the kids on on a rainy day, things can get hectic really quickly. Suddenly the kids get bored, they have nothing else to do, and are begging to go outside and play even though everyone knows that it is impossible with the rain. There’s only so much T.V. or screen time that one little mind can take, and it falls on you to help your children stay entertained, all while saving your sanity at the same time. Check out these 5 things you and do on a rainy day with your kids.

5 Activities for Kids to Do On Rainy Days

Check Out Indoor Playgrounds and Water Parks

Indoor playgrounds are now a growing trend for situations like this. Check out your local facilities for indoor playground, trampoline parks, or indoor jumping play spaces. These places or great for kids to let off some steam and burn off the built up energy. Many cities also have an indoor water park that is open rain, sun, or snow, too!

Museums

Museums are great for kids on a rainy day. Not only do they get a chance to get out of the house, but taking the time to learn something is also a nice benefit. Check out a museum near you or your local indoor museum to see if they offer rainy day prices as some do and also see if there are free days.

Gym Pool

If you have a gym membership, one of the things you can do is take advantage of their indoor pool. This gives you the chance to not only use your benefits at the gym, but the kids can splash and play all while keeping out of the rain.

Indoor Fort

Let the kids have full reign of the living room or bedroom for a couple of hours, and let them build the fort they are always asking to build. Help them set up their fake campfire and join them under the covers for a round of marshmallows and scary stories. Who knows? They may be amazed at your pillow fort building skills.

Tape Maze

Another fun activity to do with your kids on a rainy day is to grab some masking tape and create a maze on your living room floor. Take turns going through the maze or kicking a ball through the maze. You can also use the tape on the floor to play other fun games, and let your kids use their imagination.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
