Fun Ways for Kids to Play with Water- Kids will keep cool and have a good time this summer with these water activities. Get the hose out and give them a go!

Water play is lots of fun and a great way to keep cool on a hot summer day. This is one way to play that even you may want to get in on if the day is hot enough. These water play ideas will
get the kids outside and everyone cooled down while having loads of fun. Here are Fun Ways for Kids to Play with Water from classic to inventive and even some teachable moments.

Fun Ways for Kids to Play with Water

Use a bit of ice. Fill ice trays with small toys and water and take them out, challenging the kids to see how fast they can get to the frozen toy. You could also fill the ice tray with colored water and use your ice to paint an old white cotton sheet outside .The kids will keep cool while creating art. Wash and sun the sheet on the line to get the colors out later for another run or let them dry and keep it for a cool wall hanging in their room.

Playing in sprinklers is loads of fun and gets the grass watered too. Give the big kids containers with smaller rims, and larger for smaller kids and challenge them to fill the container using the sprinkler. Watch their creativity take over.

Look for a slip in slide at the store or DIY it with a tarp and sprinkler. Make it even more slippery with and earth friendly soap. Remind kids not to run or jump on the slip in slide and make sure you keep an eye on them. Check the ground for thistles and any hard things like rocks before setting up to avoid injury.
Water balloon games are a great way to get out and get wet. From catch to darts, you can have lots of fun with water balloons. To play darts, use chalk to draw two dart boards on the ground. Have each child stand in the center and throw water balloons to score points. You can can even buy these handy self sealing water balloons that let you fill hundreds at a time. Pick a bright color to make cleanup easier.

Play sink or float in the pool to see how buoyancy works. Have each child pick several water safe things to test. Have them guess if it will sink or float and tell why before tossing into the
pool. Where they right? If not, why did the it sink or float. Sort the items by whether they float or sink and examine the two piles when you are done to compare how the different properties
effect if the item floats or sinks. Science and play in one!

A water gun fight is a great way to have fun with your kids and work hand eye coordination. While some parents prefer to avoid water guns, if you’re fine with them, this is a great activity to keep the kids active and cool on a hot summer day.

Fill the kiddie pool and add some soap to create a bubbly mess. Give the kids scrubbies and washcloths and have them wash all of the solid, non-electronic toys. The toys get a good scrub, the kids stay cool and have fun and when it is all done with you have a cleaner home. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Summer is such a wonderful time to spend time playing in the water. By encouraging your kids to play in the water, you will find more kids at your house this summer when everyone
decides you have the fun house. This is good because you will know your kids are safe and who they are spending time with.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
