new years sparkle slime recipe
borax free slime recipe safe for kids glitter

When trying to decide on some fun New Years activities for the kids they suggested a glittery slime so we came up with this New Years Sparkle Slime Recipe to pass the time!

new years sparkle slime recipe

Slime is activity king in my house, how about yours? Of course, anything that has flash, sparkle, and glitter is going to be a hit so we combined our basic slime recipe with some fun glitter colors to create a New Year’s Sparkle Slime recipe to celebrate our out with the old in with the new! This is a borax-free recipe that the kids love to make just about as much as they love to play with.  With only 4 common ingredients you can make it often, I highly recommend investing in a gallon of glue! Most children are not sensitive to baking soda or saline solution but you will, of course, want to observe after use as each skin sensitivity is different.

slime recipe ingredients

Directions:

  1. Pour the entire bottle of clear school glue into a large bowl.
  2. Stir in 1 tablespoon of baking soda until well mixed.kids slime recipe mix
  3. Add glitter, stirring in as much as you like, we went a little crazy and kept adding it, after all, it was for New Year’s and the more glitter the better! We used gold and a light wintery blue but you can do gold and silver, black and gold, blue and iridescent glitter or any other color or combination of colors you want.
  4. Finally, add 2 teaspoons of contact solution and mix, mix, mix. Add a teaspoon more mix, repeat just until your slime starts to pull away from the sides and stick to the spoon rather than laying as a liquid in the bottom of the bowl. It will continue to firm up a bit as it sits so you don’t want to add too much in the beginning, you may need slightly less or slightly more depending on your glue and sometimes the temperature or humidity.kid safe glitter slime
  5. Work it in with your hands a little to give it the best texture.
  6. Store your sparkle slime recipe in a container with a tight-fitting lid for future use. We usually get a week or two out of ours.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
