A bite of Baked Sea Bass Recipe

Sea bass is a delicate, flaky fish with a mild flavor that works well with bold spices. In this recipe, whole grain mustard and smoked paprika combine in a flavorful, buttery coating that enhances the fish without overpowering it. The butter keeps the fillets moist during baking, while the paprika gives them an appetizing warm reddish-gold color. It’s a quick weeknight dinner that comes together with just a few pantry ingredients.

To get started, you set the oven to 350 degrees. While that’s preheating, whisk together some melted butter with whole grain mustard, then stir in the other spices. Coat the fillets thoroughly with the mixture and they’re ready to go in the oven. The moderate temperature and the buttery coating ensure the fish comes out flaky without drying out.

Baked Sea Bass Substitutions:

Sea bass: If you don’t have it, another mild, flaky, and firm-fleshed fish like cod, halibut, or mahi-mahi will work with this recipe.

Whole grain mustard: You can substitute spicy brown mustard for similar flavor or Dijon mustard for a smoother, slightly milder taste.

Butter: Olive oil makes this recipe dairy-free while still coating the fish to keep it from drying out.
