Nevada Discovery Museum

If you could pick one place to visit while in Reno that would entertain and inspire your children for hours, it could easily be the Nevada Discovery Museum.  There are many galleries and exhibits for kids to enjoy.

The Truckee Connect is an 80-foot long working model of the Truckee River.  The kids get a little wet playing with balls, foam shapes and other floaties as the see how current works and water moves.  The flooring around is made of a slip resistant material and staff is always squeegeeing the ground just in case.

The Da Vinci Corner helps explore the world through intersection of art, science and fun.

Even us parents will have fun playing and learning with our children.  Here in the Build It room we saw parents getting the most involved stacking KEVA planks, building houses, bridges, and arches.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
