What comes to mind when you think of Independence Day celebrations?   Picnics, Ice Cream, Barbecues and Fireworks are just some of the many ways we choose to celebrate every 4th of July.

Northern Nevada Fireworks Displays for the 4th of July including fireworks in Spark, Reno, and Carson City.

Here in the Northern Nevada Area we have a lot of great ways to celebrate our countries Independence.  Most events are affordable and free.

Star Spangled Sparks Fireworks #StarSpangledSparks (July 3rd)

The 17th annual Star Spangled Sparks fireworks show and Independence Day celebration has been our favorite place to celebrate.

  • Kids’Area
Face painting, clowns and magicians roaming Victorian square, as well as an array of rides and activities.  The kids’ area will be located on Victorian Plaza, adjacent to Century Theaters, and will include games, a super slide and mechanical rides. Ride tickets will be available for purchase just outside the Kids’ Area.
  • Food, Drink and Entertainment
Multiple food and drink vendors will be setup providing snacks and refreshing drinks for everyone to enjoy.  Also the restaurants inside the Nugget will be extending their hours for some late night dinner after the show.
  • KKOH Simulcast
The fireworks show will be broadcast live with music over KKOH News Talk 780. Tune in to hear music corresponding with the fireworks.

For updates on any potential wind delays on the evening of the event, please tune into KKOH News Talk 780. Updates will also be posted on Nugget’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/janugget and tweeted from the Nugget’s Twitter handle,@sparksnugget.

Comstock Virginia City

The Virginia City Fourth of July Celebration also includes a Fourth of July Parade, a raffle and auction, the Comstock Cowboys Second Amendment Concert. Throughout the day, visitors can stroll the boardwalk, sample sweets, browse the shops and ride the V&T Railroad short line.  Fourth of July on the Comstock rocks. Virginia City offers a 30 minute fireworks display that echos off of Mt. Davidson for nearly 30 minutes.

Aces Ball Park

There will be a 4th of July fireworks show over Aces Ballpark following the night’s game against the Tacoma Rainiers.

South Lake Tahoe

Find a nice spot at one of the many South Lake Tahoe beaches and watch the fire works over the lake.

Red White and Tahoe Blue at Incline Village

There is a whole weekend of events planned including a marching band and fireworks.

Where will you watch fireworks this Independence Day?

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
