Lisa is sharing her tips for how to save even more money while using daily deal sites.
One of my favorite ways to maximize savings is by using daily deal websites, and knowing when to use my vouchers for even more savings. My examples are more tailored towards online offers, but can ideally be used for ideas on local offers.
1. Sign up to receive Newsletters
Even if you don’t plan on buying something today, make sure to sign up for their newsletters. I find that this offers multiple benefits in that you will receive an e-mail daily of their offers, you’ll know of any special discounts going on, and you will more than likely receive credits. Since these daily deal websites want you to spend money, at some point if you haven’t spent a dime, they will send you some sort of e-mail letting you know that they gave you a credit credit of some sort of denomination.
For example, a month or two ago I signed up to receive Groupon e-mails vs just visiting their website every now and then looking for deals. I ended up actually receiving a FREE $10 credit in my account a few weeks later. And, since it was during a holiday sale, they were also offering a limited time discount to all members. So, I could double dip and use my FREE $10 credit AND a discount!
Here’s the list of daily deal websites I subscribe to:
- Groupon
- Amazon Local
- LivingSocial
- Deal Chicken
(These sites are great for CHEAP travel deals too!)
2. Redeem your Vouchers around Holidays
One of my best tips is to either shop around the Holidays, or make sure the offer you are buying doesn’t expire until around then. There are always bigger sales and discounts around the holidays, so you’ll more than likely save a lot more money. Most people like to buy their voucher and use it immediately. I find that it’s better to hold onto it for a rainy day.
For example, let’s say you bought a voucher good until Dec 12, 2013 for The Body Shop online. You paid $15 for a voucher good towards $30 in products. Just wait to use your voucher around the holidays, and you could end up getting more products with the addition to big holiday discounts and sales. It’s all about timing, and off top my head I know that I will always save big around the Holidays. It doesn’t matter if it’s around Christmas, or the 4th of July. There will always be a sale or a promotion going on.
3. Use Cash Back Websites
You might be scratching your head at this one, wondering why this would apply here. But honestly, I’m signed up for Ebates for a reason. An even better ideal money saving scenario using the top two ideas above, is to buy a voucher, use it during the holidays, AND use a cash back website that is offering a big cash back offer at your store. You can always use a cash back website, but if you can also hold onto it a little longer until one of the cash back websites doubles, or even triples the cash back, then it’s worth it.
These might seem like three simple tips, but they are worth every penny when it comes to saving money. So, how do you save money using daily deal websites?
Thanks Lisa!
