The hustle and bustle of daily life can quickly get overwhelming, and before you know it we can become drained and exhausted, unable to perform our best at daily tasks. When you find ways to simplify these tasks instead, you will find that your life will become more peaceful and stress free. So how do you do it? Take a look below and find 10 ways to simplify your life and free up some time and stress. It is a lot easier than you may think. In fact, it is quite “simple” to simplify your life. Take a peek!
10 Ways to Simplify Your Life:
1. Shorten your to-do list.
You don’t need a list of 15-20 tasks a day. Chances are, only half of those tasks are necessary to get done on a timeline. Shorten your to do list down to a more manageable number by prioritizing the tasks. Try keeping your daily list to 8-10 items and you will feel better in control and more accomplished at the end of the day.
2. Power down.
Try powering down your electronics one day a week or for a certain number of hours each day. Turn off the cell phone and power down the computer. When you let go of these distractions, you will find yourself feeling more peaceful and productive!
3. Let nature in.
Open the windows and let some air and light in. Go for a walk to clear your mind and stimulate your senses. Nature is naturally soothing, simple, and can help you relax and let go of stress. Make a point to let nature in. It is a simple and natural way to unwind and feel refreshed.
4. Learn to delegate.
This one is hard, but necessary. Learn how to delegate and assign tasks to family members so you can lessen the load on yourself. You don’t need to feel bossy when doing this, just express the fact that you could use some help and assign tasks. Simplify by delegating and you will love the feeling of a lighter load.
5. Learn to say no.
Sure it is wonderful to be able to help others, but sometimes you need to say no. When you are already dealing with a full plate, kindly pass on requests that other present you. You can always tell them you will assist them as soon as you are able instead of a flat out no, but the point is that sometimes you just need to take care of yourself first.
6. Call the occasional professional for help.
Sure you can clean your own carpet, paint your own walls, and finish your own hard wood floors, but sometimes you need a break. Simplify and call a professional in to do at least one job a year that you would typically do yourself. Give yourself a break and enjoy the free time doing something you love.
7. Enjoy plenty of family time.
When you spend time with family, you can let your hair down and be yourself. Simplify your life by spending plenty of time with family and enjoying each other’s company instead of concocting big nights out with friends or co-workers.
8. Look for free entertainment.
Nothing complicates our life like trying to come up with cash to enjoy the activities we love. Instead, simplify by enjoying free activities at local parks, libraries, museums and more.
9. Get rid of clutter.
Go through your home and start boxing up the clutter. Sell or donate items you no longer use or need such as clothing, books, and toys. This will free up time, space, and stress. Simplify your life by getting rid of items that are taking up space and see how great you feel.
10. Eliminate distractions.
Don’t take on distractions. If you are already a busy and stressed out person looking to simplify, don’t take on a pet or extra job. Don’t sign up to be the PTO president, or don’t offer to host a work party at your home. It is ok to not do everything that is presented to you. Don’t take on extra distractions.
As you can see, it really is quite simple to simplify your life. Give these ten tips a chance and see what an immediate difference they can make in your life. When you simplify, you will notice that you suddenly feel quite rich! Start simplifying today and see what happens.

Great post. My wife and I have recently gotten into “frugal living”, and it has easily been one of the best decisions that we’ve made. I especially love how you mentioned the importance of spending time with family.
