I won the book,  Cleaning Up the Clutter in a giveaway hosted by My 1/2 Dozen Daily.  Although I have read through most of the book, I am still working on chapter one: How to Feel Personally Organized. My house is clean and fairly well organized, yet I often feel disorganized. In large part this is because our office was displaced by a baby, and I haphazardly placed the office items where I could find space. Old files are stored in my closet, the computer is in the family room, the shredder is in my oldest son’s room, current paperwork and stationary is divided between several drawer in the living room and the to-be-filed pile is in a basket on the dining room table. No wonder I feel disorganized! So I realized that to feel personally organized, I needed to skip to chapter 6: Setting Up a Desk and Work Area. I am in the process of weeding out anything unnecessary from the stored office items, consolidating all of the office supplies, and creating a little office area in the family room.

Did you make a goal of getting organized or decluttering in 2010? In need of some motivation? Then read this post at My 1/2 Dozen Daily. In it, Carla shares some tips she learned reading The 15 Minute Organizer by  Emilie Barnes and applies them to her situation.

Congrats on winning the book! (I'm jealous!) Once you're finished reading it, let us know how much you liked it and if it's worth purchasing!

I feel pretty organzied too, but I tend to have piles going 24/7 in one room or another. One of my goals for 2010 is to find a place for everything and to not only get it in its place, put to have everything put in its place at least one day a week (Friday afternoons.)

Thank you for stopping by and reading/commenting on my blog!

I agree that it's definitely a book that you "work through". Not just read and be done with it. I hope it helps you out! 🙂 Have fun! 😉

We are still trying to go through the boxes from our move and I am itching to start decluttering in a big way. I just amazes me how much stuff we can accumulate and how quickly it takes over.

I need to set up an office space for myself as well. We have a room with hubby's computer and many, many bookshelves, but it is upstairs and I think I need my office space downstairs, near the kitchen. If I can have that space and the kitchen organized, our days go much more smoothly.

Thanks for reviewing this book. I'm going to look for it at the library.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
