Directions:

  1.  To begin, paint your wine corks the color of your choice. Apply 1-2 coats depending on how you want the coverage to be. Allow to dry.
  2. Once your corks are dry, take the serrated knife and slice a line in each cork. You want it to be deep enough so that the card stock will fit snug into it. Frugal Fall Wine Cork Place Card Holder
  3. You can now add your buttons. Use a variety of color and sizes and start layering them on the wine corks. Add some glue to the back of each and press them to the cork until they are secure in place. As you can see, once you add the buttons the place card holders really start to pop.

4. Cut your paper to fit the slits of the corks. On each you can write the names of your guests. A marker works great for this! Once the name is on the paper, slide it into the slit.

You shouldn’t run into any problems getting the place card holder to stand upright, but if you do just glue a button flat to the bottom to help support it. Once everything is dry, your place card holders are ready to be put to use.

When dinner is done, just remove each guest’s name and store them until next time. You can use these again and again all season long, so gather your wine corks and give them a try! This is one frugal fall craft that is sure to get your fall table looking great.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
