Check out these simple Tips for Updating Home Decor on a Budget. They include frugal and creative ways to give your home the fresh, new look it needs.

Is your home ready for some new updates? Check out our Tips for Updating Home Decor on a Budget.  You don’t have to spend a ton of money on decorative items to add a fresh new look you will love. Many of these inexpensive updates can be done just by repurposing items you already have on hand!

Tips for Updating Home Decor on a Budget

Use items in nature. If you live by a beach, this is a really cool way to update your home décor on a budget. Collect seashells and make a centerpiece out of it.  You can even pick up large pieces of driftwood for updating your home decor.  Create frames with wood pieces, or use them as end tables.

Add a pop of color. Maybe your décor isn’t missing much, but a pop of color is all it needs. You can make your own bright colored pillows!  You can also change out lamp shades for fun colors, or even add a pretty colorful throw to your sofa.

Utilize fake flowers. Fake flowers aren’t like they used to be. You can buy your favorite flowers but in a fake version. Do this to help update your home décor and still stay on budget for an easy to swap out home decor idea that can be changed with seasons and holidays.

Add a cute lamp. Lamps can help bring a room together in so many ways! By adding a cute lamp, you can totally bring a room together.  I love adding unique lamps like the Himalayan Salt Lamps that are not only useful, but a great conversation piece.

Go a little funky. When you want to update your home décor, go a little funky. I have found that some of the funkier pieces are priced better than the modern ones.  Vintage is great, so make sure to hit up your thrift shops for older pieces you can update or add into the mix.

Frame decorative artwork. When I’m looking for an inexpensive way to update our home décor, I look for new pieces of artwork to frame. Kids make great artwork that is frame-worthy.  Pick up some inexpensive frames online or at your local Dollar Tree.

Upcycle a cute table. You have seen just about everyone upcycle a table and you can do the same. You can use chalk paint to make the table look fabulous. Do you know how great a simple upcycled table can make your home look?

Make a chalk wall. I think a really cool thing to do to help update your home décor is make a chalk wall. If you’re not up for a chalk wall, then create your own painting on the wall.  If you have someone with artistic talent, let them have fun creating a mural instead.

Paint your own pictures.  Are you looking to kill two birds with one stone? Paint your own pictures and use them to decorate your home. This works well for people who may not be great at doing a painting on their own. And the plus side is that you get to hang out withyour friends and drink wine!

Hang plates on the wall. I did this in my kitchen, but with coffee cups. You can get awesome plates just about anywhere these dates. Hang them on the wall and call it a great home décor piece all while staying on budget.  You could even create your own hand painted decorative plates.

These tips for updating home decor on a budget are great for helping you to really revamp your home without breaking the bank.  Use your passions and think outside the box to create some great looks in your home without spending tons of money.

I love placing shades in my house. I got some shades with graceful colours recently and placed in my living room.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
