How to Decorate Flip Flops with Ribbon

The sun is shining and here in Florida we are back to having Spring weather.  That means it’s time to bring out the flip flops.   I know many people are not a fan of flip flops, but I love wearing them, and I love a cute flip flop craft.   Flip flops are cheap, comfortable, can be so cute after you decorate them with ribbon, beads, buttons, seashells, or jewels.   The possibilities are endless.

You can decorate them to coordinate with outfits for a casual day at the pool or an elegant evening at a wedding.  Use your imagination to create your own unique, cute style like this pair that shows team spirit by  personalizing with your child’s sport, team colors and number.

  • You can find personalized ribbon for all sports at any craft store.

This is a very easy craft and takes just a few minutes to complete.

Leave enough ribbon to be the “tail”.

Place a dab of hot glue and stick the 2 pieces of ribbon together.

Make a second loop and add a dab of glue to hold the 2nd loop in place.

Cut your 1/4 inch ribbon about 12 inches.

Follow the same directions and glue your finished bow to the center of the larger bow.

Using a lighter or match, singe the ends of the ribbon to keep it from fraying.

Paint the wooden circle and write the number.

*you can add a button, flower, or jewels instead.

Hot glue this to the center of the 2 bows.

Get a great pedicure and have fun showing off your favorite decorated flip flops.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
