How to Go to the Movies for Free - Here are some ways you can enjoy a free summer movie night with your family.Do you ever wonder about how to go to the movies for free? With ticket prices getting higher every year, it is expensive for a family of four to head out for a night at the movie theater. Tickets by themselves can easily be $60 for four people. Add in snacks and drinks and you’ve easily spent $100 just to see a movie with your kids. To keep your budget low, you will want to figure out how to go to the movies for free, and we have some great tips for you.

How to Go to the Movies for Free

Wait for summer movie programs. Summer months bring about great summer movie programs in many cities. With kids movies being shown as matinées in the summer months on select days for free or low costs, you can often get into these easily for no charge. If your theaters don’t offer free movies in the summer for kids, check with local community parks. There are often “movies at the park” events in cities in summer months. These will be great times to gather picnic baskets with snack and a big blanket or lawn chairs to hang out with your kids at the local park to watch a movie on a big screen.

Sign up to preview at a local theater. There are many theater chains that work with movie companies to offer tickets for free preview nights. Some of these are easy to get into, and others require you to apply for a possible ticket opportunity. You can check with your individual theaters to see if they host preview nights, or look online at Film Metro, GoFobo and similar sites that offer you a chance to reserve a free preview ticket.

Use online rewards programs for gift cards. This may be one of the easiest ways to go to the movies for free. You simply use online rewards programs like Swagbucks, Inbox Dollars, and similar to earn gift cards that you can use at a local movie theater. This one will take time and dedication to completing tasks that will allow you to redeem for gift cards, but it is something you can easily do in our spare time.

Ask for gift cards for birthdays or holidays. When people ask you what you want for your birthday, holiday gifts, or gift swaps then let them know you love movies and would appreciate movie theater gift cards. If your kids like going to the movies also, this is a great thing to let grandparents, aunts, and uncles know they would like gift cards to theaters as gift.

Knowing how to go to the movies for free will help stretch your family entertainment budget farther this year. From spending time as a family, to date nights going to a movie theater is a great way to spend time with those you love.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
