Items Needed:
Blue or red pool noodle (feel free to mix or match!)
Patriotic ribbon
Scissors
Knife

Items needed to make Patriotic Pool Noodle Garland

We found everything we needed at our local dollar store. Look for color themes such as red, white, and blue to keep with the spirit of the holiday.

Directions:
1. Begin by having an adult cut the pool noodle into 1-2 inch segments. This portion of the activity should only be done by an adult since you will need a knife to do this step.

2. String the segments onto your length of ribbon. Add as many as you wish to achieve the desired length.

3. Cut the remaining ribbon into 3 inch strips. In between each segment, tie a piece of ribbon on to create a pattern and help space the pieces.

Your patriotic pool noodle garland is now ready to be displayed. It can be hung on an entry way, on your food table, or can even float along in your pool for some extra decoration. Either way, it is light weight so regular craft tape should be all you need to secure it to the spot of your choice.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
