How to Save Money on Halloween Candy - This Halloween, don’t scream at the cost of candy, just follow these tips to save money on Halloween candy!

It is almost time for trick or treating! Are you ready? Passing out Halloween candy to little ghosts and goblins can be fun, but let’s get real it can also be expensive! This Halloween, don’t scream at the cost of candy, just follow the tips below to save a little cash instead! We have rounded up 7 tips on how to save money on Halloween candy so you can say BOO on a budget.

How to Save Money on Halloween Candy

1. Shop early.
Don’t wait until the fancy Halloween candy displays go up. Start shopping now, and look for bags of bulk candy on sale. Buy what you need then hide it, so it won’t be sampled before the trick or treating has begun.

2. Stack your savings.
When planning your shopping strategy, try to double or triple stack your savings. For example, look for a candy deal at Target. Then, use a Sunday circular coupon, stacked with a Target coupon, stacked with a Cartwheel deal or sale price. This is a great way to score it for less.

3. Don’t go overboard.
If you live in a neighborhood that gives out a great deal of candy, there is no need to make up goody bags or give away more than one piece per kid. Ration your candy out so everyone gets some and you don’t go broke.

4. Grab a Sunday paper, or two!
Sunday circulars will be full of coupons and sale ads so you know where to buy your candy. Grab a few papers as the season approaches so you can have access to multiple coupons.

5. Try discount stores.
Aldi’s and Big Lots both offer bags of bulk candy for just a few dollars each. Don’t forget to check out these stores when buying your Halloween loot.

6. Check out the dollar store.
Dollar stores sell generously sized bags of wrapped candy for just $1 each. These bags are perfect if you just get a few dozen trick or treaters per year.

7. Skip the chocolate.
Chocolate candies will always cost you more than hard candies. Opt for hard candies and non chocolate candies and you will save a few dollars per bag.

When you give these tips a try, you can be sure you are filling those plastic pumpkin heads for less. Give them a try and enjoy a spooky Halloween that is full on fun and easy on your wallet!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
