Secret Habits of Highly Organized People- Ever wonder how highly organized people do it? Adopt these 6 habits to achieve a well-organized life of your own!

At one point, I was the queen of clutter. My life was always in some sort of disarray and it seemed that I was never doing anything on time including paying bills, being somewhere I was supposed to be, or even finishing most projects. For the most part my life is still very busy, but by getting some things in order I have saved a lot of time and money!

When you think about it, organized people seem to get everything done they need to most days. This is not only because they organize their time well, but because they don’t spend time looking for lost things all the time or doing things the hard way because they know where everything is in their home, car, and office. Would you like to get more organized? Here are Secret Habits of Highly Organized People that you can use in your own life!

Secret Habits of Highly Organized People

They have routines with everything in their life. Organized folks tend to have specific things they do every day, regardless of whether it’s a work day or not. They get up at the same time, they feed the cat at the same time, and they eat at the same times each day. When you know specific tasks will be done at certain times during the day, it’s easier to schedule out the rest of your time.

They deal with daily things like emails, snail mail, and school work on a daily basis. They don’t let clutter pile up when it comes to paperwork. They deal with emails by answering them right back after reading them, and they don’t just shove that mail into some slot of their desk to be dealt with later. While it can seem inconvenient to deal with these tasks as they happen, it is also a great weight lifted off your shoulders when you don’t have them looming over you, either.

They live simply. Highly organized people don’t buy a lot of ‘stuff’. They like to live somewhat minimally in the amount of things they own simply because it is easier to stay organized when you don’t have much to organize to began with.

They don’t overbook themselves. People who are very organized know that life sometimes takes unexpected turns. Rather than panic, they actually schedule downtime to deal with these last minute changes. They don’t do things down to the wire and they have no problem saying ‘no’ to too much.

They clean as they go throughout the day. Not only do highly organized people own less, the stuff they do own gets cleaned as they go throughout the day. This saves on time spent cleaning later and it also ensures that everything gets put back in it’s place right away so no one has to spend time looking for it later.

They know how to prioritize. Highly organized people know that silly things in life such as social media time, funny emails, and TV time have a place, and it’s not when you should be doing something else. They turn off distractions whenever possible to stay on task and they decide what must be done first when looking at a list.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
