Senior Discounts Start as Early as Age 50

Senior Discounts begin as early as age 50

Last weekend, I had an opportunity to meet Lori Felix of More with Less Today. We have collaborated on online projects before, so it was a delight to finally meet her in person. While in Orlando, we had a lot of fun and enjoyed a few adventures. One evening we got lost while taking a walk and instead of worrying where we were, we enjoyed a leisurely chat. She shared beauty tips; I shared tips for how to outrun an alligator.

Since we are both frugalistas, we discussed money saving tips and Lori mentioned that some senior discounts begin when you turn 50. I had no idea! I didn’t think senior discounts started until you were at least 55. I was thrilled to discover this because my husband is 51, making him eligible for senior discounts in at some businesses.

My husband wasn’t very enthusiastic when I told him he qualified for senior discounts. He said he prefers receiving a military discount. However, a discount is a discount and in these tough economic times, every little bit helps. If you (or a loved one) are over 50 start checking out the senior discount policies at your favorite businesses and check out Lori’s list of 109 senior discounts to see if there are any you can use.  However, if your husband has recently turned 50, you might want to find a gentle way to share this resource with him.

Alea, my friend- I am still smiling when I think about our adventures. We showed some of the young ‘uns a few things too, I dare say. Thank you for sending over your wonderful readers to check out my senior discounts! I look forward to more fun together soon. All my best, Lori

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
