Tips For Keeping Boots Looking Great This Winter - Using these tips you can keep your boots looking great for several years.

These tips for keeping boots looking great this winter will save you tons of money. While you may want to buy new boots every year, you shouldn’t need to. A boot investment should last for 2-3 years with regular care. These tips will help you to make your investment last much longer. Whether you have leather boots or cloth styles these tips will help them easily last twice as long.

Tips For Keeping Boots Looking Great This Winter

Wipe down with a clean cloth after you wear them. Winter months bring about tons of snow and ice and along with that comes salt to break down the frozen ice on sidewalks. This salt gets on your boots and can easily deteriorate the fabric and leave stains. Every day after you wear your boots, take the time to wipe them down and remove the salt. Depending on the fabric, you may be able to safely use a damp cloth, or even soap to clean your boots. Just make sure you do a test spot before to make sure your cleaning method won’t stain them further.

Use shoe polish regularly on appropriate boots. For the patent leather boots that are often popular, you can grab a can of shoe polish and regularly use it to keep them free from scuffs and looking brand new. Shining your own shoes is a simple project that you can even have your kids help you do.

Protect leather boots with a leather conditioner. A quality leather conditioner will help keep your leather boots in great shape. For soft suede or soft leather, you want to try a test patch to make sure that it won’t stain. Regularly use a leather conditioner that is appropriate for your boot to keep them looking nice for twice as long.

Use newspaper or boot shaper to keep tall boots in shape. Creases and breakdown of material on taller boots are often the reason behind them not being able to last as long as you would like. Using rolled up newspaper or a boot shaper to keep them upright can help them to last years longer. When storing in off seasons, you my want to wrap them in tissue paper and put them back into a shoe box laying flat for storage. This will keep leather boots safely protected, and help them to retain their shape. However, you will want to stuff the boots with tissue paper, newspaper or socks to keep them in shape.

These tips for keeping boots looking great this winter are perfect for helping you stretch your budget farther. You can spend the money you would have used on new boots to upgrade your fall wardrobe with some fun new scarves, hats, or even some super cute boot cuffs instead.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
