Money Saving Tips for August:

  • Sign up for newsletters & emails from your favorite restaurants and businesses using a separate new email address you create just for deals & savings
  • Keep coupons for dining out in your purse or wallet.
  • Build up a 6 month stockpile;
  • Buy enough  food & toiletries when on sale at their rock bottom sale price for each person in your family  so you don’t run out (when you “need” a product you’ll be wiling to pay full price – don’t let that happen)
  • Many states offer a tax free holiday for back to school shopping  – check with your local Dept of taxation for your state
  • Close blinds during direct sun hours to conserve on cooling costs. Here are more ways to save on utilities in the summer.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
