Combine sales with tax-free holidays and you can stock your homeschool in no time.
10 Items Homeschoolers Need from Back to School Sales
Basic Art Supplies- It is vital to purchase these on sale this time of year. Things like crayons, markers, colored pencils, and glue all seem to disappear into the abyss right next to the missing match of every pair of socks we own.
Pencils- Pencils are great to get on sale during the back to school events. They always come up missing and need to be replaced, so buy more than you think you will ever need. It is far better to have an abundance you can give away as needed than too few.
Notebooks- These are one of those things you think you only need a couple of. Then you get going and wonder where all of those fresh notebooks went. Each year, we buy an entire case of notebooks during the school supply sales and we never have enough to make it all year long.
Paper of All Types- Paper can be found on sale this time of year. Printing paper, construction paper, lined paper, and poster board are at huge savings compared to buying throughout the year.
Electronics– Computers, printers, SD cards, and even external hard drives are all on sale at the best prices of the year. Memory cards and hard drives are vital for storing all of those great homeschool resources you find all year long.
Printer Ink– As homeschoolers, we print a lot. The cost of printer ink adds up fast. When the back to school sales roll in, we can stock up on plenty of ink to last us all year long at a great price. No more debating on which cool thing you found is more worthy of printing.
Backpacks and Lunch Bags- Even homeschoolers needs these for things like field trips and co-op meetings. Grabbing them on sale, or even better yet on clearance after the school sales, will let you save more on these.
Classroom Displays and Teacher Aids- Wall maps and globes are on sale and easy to find. Even if you are not interested in a school room, you may find just the thing to get the kids (and you) excited.
Clothing, Shoes, and More- So much can be found on sale during the back to school sales as families find themselves in need to buy new school clothes. While this may not be the case for you, it’s still a great time to stock up on anything you have on your list.
Storage- We all need storage. Whether you want a bookshelf or need places to store basic school supplies, you will find it on sale. Now is the time to get what you need. Binders for storing papers, file boxes, and storage bins line the back to school aisles at amazingly low prices. Storage is also greatly discounted around January as well, so be sure to buy again at that time.

We always stock up on art supplies and glue sticks. We just can’t seem to keep glue sticks in the house very long.

I’ve never thought to look for ink at back to school sales. We are doing preschool at home and am printing a ton of worksheets, games, etc. I’ll have to look for ink sales! (visiting from Idea Box)

These are great supplies for those of us without kids, too! I use lots of art supplies for crafting, and can always use less expensive printer ink, paper and storage containers. I need to remember to stock up on these during back-to-school days! Thanks for linking up with Merry Monday this week.
