Tips for Enjoying a Day at the Zoo

Going to the zoo is one of the most exciting things you can do as a child. The memories you make there can lead to lifetime of love for animals and even create a future zoologist. Kids are naturally drawn to animals and will enjoy every minute. The key to enjoying your trip is to plan ahead and consider some of the roadblocks you might run into. By thinking ahead, the zoo trip with your kids can be a breezy tour of some of the most magical creatures on earth.

Tips for Enjoying a Day at the Zoo

Get the kids excited about the trip ahead of time – Does your kid have a favorite animal? If so, get them a book about the animal and ask them to study up. Have them teach you about the animal when they go to the zoo. You can also watch a DVD together or have them surf around on an animal website to get them ready and excited for the trip.

Get there early – Nothing is worse than arriving too late in the day to enjoy a particular exhibit or visit the entire park. The zoo is generally going to be a large area that is tough to see in a short period of time. Come early and spread the trip throughout the day to get the full effect. The last thing you want to do is come late and miss your kid’s favorite animals.

Pack Your Own Lunches and Snacks— If you have ever been to the zoo, you already know the unbelievable costs of eating and drinking there. Bringing your own food will save you a great deal. Some folks go ahead and pay the exorbitant prices as a way of donating to the zoo.  Whichever you prefer is fine. Just know that you will spend a small fortune.

Catch a Show— Watching an alligator eat a chicken is one of the coolest things a kid will ever see. Feeding the animals is done on a very rigid schedule so you will want to try to time it out so that you can enjoy it. In most cases, this can be done by calling the zoo or by checking times online. There are also shows involving animal interactions throughout the day so ask about them as well.

Buy Souvenirs Last— There are many good reasons why you should go to the zoo shops last. First, you will have an idea how much cash you have already laid out. Another reason is because you won’t have to lug around your purchase all day long. Wait until the kids are nice and tired, and your bill will be much less expensive at the end of the day.

Visiting a zoo is one of the most exciting things you can do as a child. Make it special for them by maximizing the trip and allowing them the most bang for your buck. Your kids deserve it!

I loved that you said that to make sure that you won’t miss your kid’s favorite animal, you must consider visiting a zoo early. This is something that I will share with my sister who mentioned the other night her interest in a guided sloth encounter tour with her 5-year-old son next week. Your tips will surely help her make sure that her son will enjoy the most during the tour, so your tips are helpful.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
