Plant Unit Study Resources including plant lesson plans, plant printables, plant lapbooks, plant videos and plant books for kids.

Spring is the perfect time to do a unit study on plants because there are so many just starting to bud and everything is coming back to life. If you are a homeschooling parent, and you are looking for resources to teach your kiddos about how plants grow, parts of plants, and how to incorporate them into an entire unit study for all ages, here are some plant unit study resources to get you started!

Plant Unit Study Resources

Plant Lesson Plans

Discovery Education has a great group of plant lesson plan resources for anything from pollination to plant parts for grades k-8.

The Got Dirt? Lesson Plan on Plant Parts from Wisconsin University cover many basic topics such as plant parts, flowers, and fruit and come with a great printable lesson guide.

Plant Lapbooks and Printables

This free printable for a Plant Lifecycle Notebook from 123 Homeschool 4 Me is great for many ages in the elementary levels.

This Lapbook for Carnivorous Plants from Tina’s Dynamic Homeschool Plus also offers suggestions for the lesson by age all the way through older kids.

Plant Experiments and Tutorials

This list of Botany Science Fair Projects from Education.com can be an excellent resource for finding projects to do in your unit study at-home classroom.

I love any project that uses old things and makes them new, and this use of a clear CD case to grow a bean sprout from Two Busy Brunettes and label it is just genius!

Plant Videos and Clips

Watch Know Learn has a collection of free Plant Educational Videos that are for all ages through high school.

For older kids and high school students, this collection of educational plant videos from Study.com will come in handy.

Additional Plant Resources

The Plants Data Base from the USDA has some great information on identifying plants, state plants and more great learning references.

Science Kids has some great resources for building on a plant lesson plan from projects to information.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
