Here are some simple Ways To Teach Kids About Recycling to help you teach your kids how to be responsible for the world around them.

If your family has made the decision to live a green lifestyle, one of the first things you need to know are Ways To Teach Kids About Recycling.  Not only will getting everyone involved in this effort make it easier, you really want to teach your children about how their actions can have an affect on the environment.  Teaching them how to make wise choices in their daily life now will carry over to their adult life.  Teaching our children about being responsible for the world around them is one of our responsibilities as an adult.

Ways to Teach Kids about Recycling

Set up recycling bins in your home.  Instead of just a trash can, invest in some extra bins to separate things like plastic, paper, and glass.  Check for your local recycling center to find out what items they accept.  Some areas also have locations that will pay you for recycling glass bottles and aluminum cans.  If so, that can be a fun way for your kids to earn a little extra money while helping he environment.

Create a compost bin. Another great way to teach your kids about recycling is to teach them about what food items can also be composted.  Not only will you be creating a rich fertilizer for your gardens in the spring and summer, you’ll be teaching them about food waste.  Learning to reuse things like vegetable and fruit peel to make things like stocks and broths is another way to extend those items before putting them into your compost bin.  Building your own gardens and using this compost is just another way you can provide for your family and live clean.

Make upcycled crafts and gifts.  Teaching kids about recycling is easy when it comes time to get the craft supplies out.  Everyone remembers making crafts using egg cartons as a kid, but you can do so much more.  Old shirts and dresses can be cut into pieces to create throw pillows, throws, quilts or fun little patchwork bags.  Old crayons can be melted down and poured into molds to create fun new colors and shapes.  Various things like old platters, candle holders, costume jewlery and even glass beads are all great bases for unique upcycle decor.

Going green is something that everyone in your family can take part in.  These ways to teach your kids about recycling are simple and easy for any family to do.  Recycling inside your home is the first of many ways that your family can go green with ease.  Changing how you use resources around you is an important part of changing to a frugal and green living lifestyle.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
