Celebrate the happy couple with the sweetest edible favor: chocolate-dipped pretzel rods transformed into elegant brides and grooms! These whimsical wedding pretzel rods combine salty crunch with smooth white and dark chocolate, then get dressed up with bow ties and sugar sprinkles to create adorable miniature newlyweds.

Whether you’re setting up a dessert table at the reception, stuffing favor bags for a bridal shower, or surprising the rehearsal dinner crowd, these little lovebirds are guaranteed to steal the show. They’re surprisingly simple to make (we promise—no pastry-chef skills required!), yet look like they came straight from a high-end bakery.

Chocolate-Covered Wedding Pretzel Rods Recipe

These chocolate-dipped brides and grooms are very easy to make. You can melt the chocolate and white chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler.

Ingredients:

  • Pretzel rods
  • White candy melts or vanilla-flavored almond bark
  • Milk Chocolate morsels or chocolate-flavored almond bark
  • Assorted sprinkles, if desired

Directions:

1. Melt the candy coating according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy. If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to help thin the candy but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.

2. Pour candy coating over two-thirds of the pretzel rod and shake gently to remove excess. If applying sprinkles, do so immediately while rotating the pretzel rods to coat all sides. Larger sprinkles work best if placed individually.

3. Place pretzel rod on waxed paper or cooling rack. (Cook’s notes: Waxed paper makes for easier release.)

4. If dipping with additional chocolate (for the groom), allow initial candy coating to set completely. Then, use a spoon to pour and spread the chocolate over the pretzel rods. Before the pretzel sets, gently pick it up and move to clean wax paper.

5. To create the bow tie, transfer melted chocolate to a piping bag or freezer bag with the corner snipped. Create the tie with a figure-8 motion. Use a toothpick to create the points on the edges if needed.

6. Let pretzel rods dry completely before packaging or serving.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Placing in the refrigerator may cause the pretzel to soften.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
