Plan your dream wedding on a tight budget with these tips for planning a thrifty wedding.Frugal Tips for Planning a Thrifty Wedding- Here are some helpful tips for planning a beautiful wedding on a tight budget. It’s wedding season! Planning a wedding is hard work and it’s no secret that weddings are expensive. Is it possible to have a thrifty wedding? Absolutely! There are a ton of ways you can cut down on wedding costs by throwing a thrifty wedding! These Frugal Tips for Planning a Thrifty Wedding can help you achieve not only the wedding of your dreams, but allow you to hang on to some money for the future as well!

Frugal Tips for Planning a Thrifty Wedding

DIY the centerpieces. There are thousands of DIY centerpiece ideas on Pinterest and it should be relatively easy to find one you like! Whether you’re going rustic, industrial, or something not so mainstream, making your centerpieces yourself is not only cheaper, it’s rewarding! You can keep them around for years as a keepsake and knowing that you made them yourself is even better!

Instead of catering, find a local cook. Rather than spending mass amounts of money on a large catering company or a restaurant, look around and see if you know anybody who is comfortable with cooking in bulk! You could also post an ad on a local Facebook group. Just make sure you require a few references. Homemade food is delicious and what better way to celebrate a marriage with some tasty food cooked with love?

Choose a “cheaper” day for the venue. Many venues offer huge discounts for choosing a day that isn’t as popular. Since they wouldn’t normally have a booking that day, they’re usually willing to take you for much less than you’d pay on a popular day! Also, if you have the option of avoiding a weekend wedding, you’ll save a lot!

Crowdsource for decor. Put some feelers out on your social media to see if any of your friends and family have things you could use for your DIY decor. If you need mason jars for centerpieces, ask your friends on Facebook if they have any they’d be willing to part with for your wedding! This request could be for anything including chairs, chair covers, table covers, and more!

Ultimately, planning and throwing a thrifty wedding is mostly about searching for frugal ways to celebrate. Between DIY decor, cheaper catering, and finding the perfect day to celebrate, you should be able to knock off quite a bit of the end cost from your wedding. By throwing a thrifty wedding you’ll be able to save money and start your marriage with a nice cushion in your savings – a MUST for any newlywed couple!

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
