The holiday season is crazy enough as it is, you don’t need to make it harder by preparing elaborate hors d’oeuvres for your holiday parties.  Appetizers do not have to be difficult to be delicious! In fact, I think that some of the tastiest appetizers are some of the easiest ones to make.

More Easy Appetizer Ideas:

Chips and Dips are a party stable at our house for a reason: people love them. Check out the easy and delicious dips below to pair with your chips.

Fruit platters are always popular. Skip the fancy shapes. Seriously. Cubed fruit disappears just as fast as Christmas tree shaped fruit.

Vegetable Trays go together fast and are always a hit. Pair your vegetable tray with one of the easy dip recipes below. But if you are short on time, don’t feel bad about using bottled ranch salad dressing as your dip. I always cut extra vegetables and keep them in the fridge so I can replenish the tray as necessary through out the party.

Popcorn is always popular. You don’t have to make fancy flavored popcorn either. I have found that  popcorn with butter and salt is a hit, especially if children are attending the party.

Pizza flavored anything is always popular.  You can top just about anything (mini bagels, French bread, broiled zucchini, etc.) with pizza sauce and cheese, bake at 350 degrees until the cheese melts and you will have a hit! Don’t  have time to make mini pizza bagels? Bake a square pizza, cut it into 2” x 2” squares and provide tooth picks for your guests.

Make Easy Dips and Appetizers! You can make easy appetizers from scratch. Use recipes that require few ingredients and only have a couple of steps, but still have a bold flavor.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
