10 Tasty Peach Recipes including fresh peach pie, peach drinks, peach butter and peach sauce, plus how to freeze fresh peaches.

Near the end of the summer, one of my favorite harvest times is when peaches are ready. There is a place around here that does a peach festival to celebrate it every year, and I have wanted to go but it always conflicts with my schedule. Maybe I will get lucky enough to be able to do it this year. Peaches are a great fruit because they taste great sweetened, and you can even make them a bit savory as well. If you have some extra peaches laying around or you harvest them yourself, here are some tips for freezing peaches as well as some great peach recipes.

How to Freeze Fresh Peaches

First, you will want to make sure your peaches are ripe enough. You don’t want them too firm as they won’t freeze as well. Get peaches that are slightly soft. To remove the skins easily, try slitting them with an “X” shaped patten over the whole peach (as if you were cutting into 4’s) and then blanching them in boiling water. Remove them after a minute and place them in icy water to quickly cool. Peel off the skins and cut them into sections, removing the core. Freeze in a single layer on a cookie sheet or jelly roll pan on some wax paper. When hard, place in containers or zipper style bags and label.

Welcome. I'm Alea!

On Premeditated Leftovers I share simple recipes made with whole foods, practical shopping tips, time saving techniques, and meal planning strategies. I also share tips for minimizing food waste, so more of the food that is purchased ends up on the table.

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. I set out to develop low-cost recipes from scratch to prove it’s possible to create delicious meals on a limited budget. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
