Beth of Aunt B on a Budget is a kindred spirit!  She doesn’t like wasting food, so instead of letting the last piece of  her applesauce spice cake go to waste, she used it to create these gorgeous Apple and Eggnog Trifles. I wish my leftovers looked this lovely!     Great idea! I had a layer of chocolate cake that crumbled when I took it out of the pan. It’s still in the freezer, but now I know how to use it!

While volunteering as a budget counselor, I realized that food is the element of most people’s budgets where they have the greatest control. Eating well while spending less is about more than just creating recipes using inexpensive ingredients; it’s about creatively combining ingredients so you don’t feel deprived and are inspired to stick to your budget.
